TurboTax Offers Free Answers to Taxing Questions

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- To get an early start on their 2009 tax returns, taxpayers can get a free answer to a personal tax question at www.freetaxquestion.com, through Jan. 31. The answers come courtesy of the tax experts at TurboTax(R), the nation's best-selling, No. 1-rated tax software from Intuit Inc. (Nasdaq:INTU).

TurboTax has extended the free program, which typically begins in January, to help taxpayers get the most from year-end deductions and credits, including tax savings that are part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

"There's a lot of money on the table this year for taxpayers," said Bob Meighan, CPA and vice president of TurboTax. "The economic stimulus package helps about 95 percent of U.S. taxpayers, whether they're first-time homebuyers, college students or cash for clunker recipients. TurboTax makes it easy for them to claim every deduction and credit they deserve, including recent credits from the stimulus. Answering a tax question for free is simply another way we make it easy to put more money in your pocket."

To participate, any U.S. taxpayer can submit a question online at www.freetaxquestion.com. They'll receive a personal call back at a time they request from a tax expert from TurboTax. The TurboTax experts are highly qualified tax professionals with extensive knowledge in tax law and TurboTax software. They are an experienced group of EAs (IRS-Enrolled Agents) and Tax Preparers with advanced education and experience in tax law, return preparation, or the tax industry. This is a limited time offer and subject to availability.

Easy Answers, All the Time

In addition to the free tax question offer, taxpayers can get free answers anytime through the TurboTax Live Community. This online community, included in all TurboTax products, puts the collective knowledge of millions of TurboTax customers and tax experts at a user's fingertips. Users can simply type in a question and immediately find answers that are relevant to their unique tax situation.

"We expect people will have more questions this year than in the past," Meighan said. "The combined knowledge of our in-house experts and the Online Community make it easier for them to get the answers they need, when they need them with confidence."
