Intuit Recognized for Innovative Use of Social Technologies

Intuit Brainstorm and TurboTax Live Community Make Positive Impact on Intuit's Business

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Intuit Inc.'s (Nasdaq:INTU) innovative use of social technologies to achieve business and organizational goals has earned two 2010 Forrester Groundswell Awards from independent research firm Forrester Research, Inc. The Intuit TurboTax Live Community widget that connects people to free tax advice was honored in the Business to Consumer North America division, in the Supporting category. Intuit was also honored in the Innovation System (Management) category for Intuit Brainstorm, a tool that helps innovators share and evolve their ideas.

"Once again, the entrants and winners for this year's Forrester Groundswell Awards amazed us," said Josh Bernoff, senior vice president of idea development at Forrester. "We were particularly impressed with the diverse and effective social and mobile strategies that organizations are now using to reach consumers, companies, and their own employees."

"It is an honor to be recognized by the Forrester Groundswell Awards for creatively using social technologies and user-contribution to advance the benefits we bring to customers," said Kris Halvorsen, chief innovation officer of Intuit. "Being on the forefront of social technology with Brainstorm and TurboTax Live Community is truly making a positive impact on our business."

Intuit unveiled TurboTax Live Community support in 2007, creating a free, online forum where people could ask and answer each other's tax-related questions. After the successful launch, the company increased awareness and use of the community by using display advertising to syndicate tax questions and answers to deliver free tax help across the internet. By creating interactive "Live Community" widgets, the TurboTax Live Community banner ads were seen more than 800 million times, bringing the Live Community experience to people wherever and whenever they needed the help.

Intuit Brainstorm was created as an innovation management tool to encourage collaboration throughout an organization and help put good ideas to work faster. It enables innovators to grow and shape their ideas and gain the expertise and perspectives of others. In addition, it helps employees get the support they need to move ideas forward, giving them the power and confidence to create new products or services.

Brainstorm also gives business leaders a way to track, manage and evaluate new insights relevant to their business. The Brainstorm concept has expanded beyond Intuit, and is currently supporting innovation programs in a growing number of Fortune 1000 companies, universities and government organizations.

The Forrester Groundswell Awards recognize quality and excellence from companies that use social applications and technologies to accomplish business objectives. The awards program was developed to support and recognize the principles outlined in the Forrester Research books "Groundswell: Winning In A World Transformed By Social Technologies" (Harvard Business Press, 2008) and "Empowered: Unleash Your Employees, Energize Your Customers, and Transform Your Business" (Harvard Business Press, 2010).
