Intuit Launches Comprehensive Guide to Help Tax Professionals Prepare for Affordable Care Act Tax Changes

PLANO, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Intuit Inc. (Nasdaq:INTU), maker of Intuit Tax Online®, ProSeries® and Lacerte®, the nation’s leading tax software for tax professionals, launched Understanding the Affordable Care Act, a free online resource to help tax professionals understand and prepare for the tax implications brought about by health care reform. This comprehensive guide was created in response to a recent poll by Intuit, which revealed that less than 7 percent of tax preparers feel “very prepared” to handle tax changes related to the Affordable Care Act.

“After speaking with dozens of tax preparers, it became clear to us that professionals will bear much of the burden when it comes to educating tax filers on how the reform might affect their taxes during this upcoming tax season,” said CeCe Morken, General Manager of Intuit’s Professional Tax Group. “We hope that with the help of this resource, every tax professional in America will feel confident and prepared to effectively communicate the tax implications of the ACA to their clients.”

In addition to outlining the key implications of the ACA on taxes, the guide includes both checklists for tax professionals as well as a consumer guide for individual taxpayers and small business owners, helping to address:

  • How the ACA affects individual tax situations
  • Which new forms taxpayers need to look for
  • Documentation that tax professionals need in order to complete 2014 tax returns

The release of Understanding the Affordable Care Act comes on the heels of Intuit’s Tax Year 2014 Impact of the Affordable Care Act, a series of educational seminars and webinars for tax professionals across the country.
